Edward Winter (actor)

Edward Dean Winter ( Ed Winter, born June 3, 1937 in Ventura, California, † March 8, 2001 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California ) was an American actor.

He began his career in 1962 as a theater actor with the San Francisco Actors Workshop, before he went to New York, where he was nominated for a Tony Award in 1967 as Best Supporting Actor ( role, " Mr. Ludwig" ) in Cabaret. In 1969 he was for the role of " J. D. Sheldrake " in Promises, Promises nominated for another Tony.

Winter played during his screen career above all guest and supporting roles in numerous American TV series, including, for example, Golden Girls, Four times Cagney & Lacey or Herman. His most famous role was that of the paranoid Colonel Sam Flagg in the comedy series M * A * S * H, although he in only seven episodes (including once under the name of Captain Halloran ) came into existence and once in the spin-off After MASH to was seen.

Winter died age of 63 from the effects of Parkinson 's disease.
