Edwards County (Illinois)

The Edwards County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the County had 6721 inhabitants and a population density of 11.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Albion.

Geography

History

The Edwards County was formed from the 1814 Gallatin County and named for Ninian Edwards, the only governor of the Illinois Territory. The first was the county seat Palmyra in today's Wabash County. The first settlers came from Bristol in England and landed on May 25, 1818 in Philadelphia, not all of the arduous journey to the Edwards County made ​​, but settled in Philadelphia and its vicinity.
