Edwin Arthur Kraft

Edwin Arthur force ( * 1883 in New Haven / Connecticut; † July 15, 1962 ) was an American organist and composer.

Force studied at Yale University under Horatio Parker. From 1903 to 1905 he toured Europe and studied here, inter alia, in Paris with Alexandre Guilmant and Charles -Marie Widor. After his return, he worked for two years as organist at St. Matthew Episcopal Church in Wheeling (West Virginia). From 1907 to 1959 he was organist at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Cleveland / Ohio. In addition, he was from 1933 to 1951 music director of the Lake Erie College in Painesville, also head of the organ department of the Cleveland Institute of Music and choir director at the Laurel School.

Force wrote numerous transcriptions for the organ, but composed only a few own works. His only original composition for the organ is a Polish lullaby ("A Polish Lullaby ").
