Edwin F. Ladd

Edwin Freemont Ladd ( born December 13, 1859 in Starks, Somerset County, Maine, † June 22, 1925 in Baltimore, Maryland ) was an American politician ( Republican), who represented the state of North Dakota in the U.S. Senate.

Ladd attended the public schools of his birthplace and the Somerset Academy in Athens before he graduated in 1884 from the University of Maine. From 1884 to 1890 he worked as a chemist in an experimental laboratory of the State of New York, Geneva. Later he became Dean of the Faculty, as well as chemical and pharmaceutical chemistry professor at North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo; He also worked 1890-1916 as a senior chemist at the State Agricultural Experiment Station.

From 1899 to 1904, Edwin Ladd also operated as editor of North Dakota farmer in Lisbon. He also strove to senior positions at the state food laws. The Agricultural College he stood from 1916 to 1921 as president before.

In the election to the U.S. Senate in 1920, Edwin Ladd successfully ran for the Republicans. He took up his post in Washington on March 4, 1921 and was in the Senate Chairman of the Committee of Public Roads ( Committee on Public Roads and Surveys ). However, he died before the end of his term on June 22, 1925 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
