Edwin Maxwell

Edwin Maxwell ( born February 9, 1886 in Dublin, † August 13 1948 in Falmouth, Massachusetts) was an Irish actor. He became famous through the film Ninotchka.

Maxwell moved to the First World War to California. Initially he worked as an assistant director, he played at the beginning of the sound era his first role in the movie The Taming of the Shrew ( 1929). Frequently portrayed Maxwell business people, doctors or supervisors. He had supporting roles in four films that won the Oscar for Best Picture: The Western Front ( 1930), people in the hotel ( 1932), The Great Ziegfeld (1936) and the art of living (1938). Overall, he turned to his death around 150 films. He died in 1948 at the age of 62 years to lung cancer.
