Edwin R. Ridgely

Edwin Reed Ridgely ( born May 9 and 1844 by Lancaster, Wabash County, Illinois, † April 23, 1927 in Girard, Kansas ) was an American politician.

Ridgely served during the Civil War from the year 1862 as a private in Company C of the 150th Regiment of the Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Over time, he was promoted to sergeant. After the end of the war Ridgely resigned from the army in 1869 and moved to Girard, Kansas. In 1876 he resigned from the Republican Party from the basis of which financial policy. From 1889 to 1893 he lived in Ogden (Utah ) and returned in the connection back to Kansas.

1896 Ridgely was chosen for the Populist Party in Congress and represented there on 4 March 1897 to 3 March 1901, Kansas House of Representatives of the United States. In the congressional elections in 1900, he did not stand for reelection available. Ridgely now returned to Kansas, where he was active in farming in Mulberry. He died on April 23, 1927 in Girard and was buried at the local Girard Cemetery.
