Edwin Zbonek
Edwin Zbonek ( born March 28, 1928 in Linz, † 29 May, 2006 St. Pölten ) was an Austrian film and theater director.
The career of Zbonek began the radio with radio play productions. Subsequently, he was involved in directing for the theater. From 1960 he worked at the Theater in der Josefstadt, where he staged in the following 16 years, among other Eugene Ionesco, Samuel Beckett, Franz Xaver Kroetz, Johann Nestroy and Odon von Horvath. Zbonek was from 1971 head of the Viennale festival and 1974-1988 artistic director of the Theatre of Youth.
Edwin Zbonek died of pneumonia. He was the father Copywriter, actor and musician Marcus Zbonek aka Emil Tischbein or Mr. Tischbein
