Eenhana since 1992 has been the capital and administrative seat of Ohangwena, a region in north- central Namibia. The city is located in one of the poorest regions of Namibia, however, experienced tremendous growth, particularly through influx from the surrounding countryside. The same constituency has a total of about 45,000 inhabitants; of which about 5600 live in the city itself. Eenhana is called the Forest City, as it lies within a tropical forest.
Eenhana means in Oshivambo dialect as much as calf and was since the end of the 19th century as a hunting ground. It is in the course of the last decades has become a small town and Eenhana today has a paved road in other cities in the region further west, as well as a number of banks and schools. Mahangu is a typical food of the region.
The status of a city got Eenhana on 15 April 1999 and in 2002 independently.
