Eforie

Eforie is a city on the Black Sea in Constanta county in Romania.

Geographical location

Eforie lies on an isthmus between the Black Sea to the east and the lagoon Techirghiol Lake in the west. The county seat, Constanţa is located about 15 kilometers north of Eforie away.

History

The city Eforie consists of the parts Eforie Nord and Sud Eforie. The current city or its parts changed several times their names ( Techirghiol Movilă, Băile Movilă, Carmen Sylva, Vasile Roaita ). Eforie Nord was founded in 1894, as here, a sanatorium for the treatment of rheumatic diseases was established. This settlement was originally part of Techirghiol before it was declared independent in 1933 and the city. Eforie Sud was created in 1899 on the territory of the municipality of Tuzla and in 1945 it was declared a city. 1966, the two towns were administratively united.

The main economic activities are beach tourism and the revenue earned by balneotherapy, the (Romanian: Lacul Techirghiol ) especially with the digested sludge Techirghiol Lake is operated.

Population

The population increased from 1948 (1.503) to 1977 (9.507) rapidly and has since been essentially constant. 2002 lived in Eforie 9,465 people, including 8,587 Romanians, 395 Tartars, 212 Turks, 177 Roma, 37 Hungary, 19 Russians and 11 Lipovans and Poland. 4,748 lived in Eforie Nord, 4717 in Eforie Sud.

Traffic

Eforie lies on the railway line from Constanta to Mangalia. Currently (2009 ) run in both directions about eight passenger trains per day; in some cases there are direct connections to Bucharest. On the territory of the city lie the stations Eforie Nord and Sud Eforie. Through the city runs the European Route 87 There are bus connections to Constanta.
