Efua Dorkenoo

Efua Dorkenoo is a Ghanaian women's rights activist and campaigner against genital mutilation of girls and women (FGM ). She founded The Foundation for Women 's Health, Research and Development (FORWARD ), whose chairman is since 1983.

Her work Cutting The Rose: Female Genital Mutilation the Practice and its Prevention from 1994 has been added to the list of the 100 best African books of the 20th century.
