Eggental

The Eggental (Italian: Val d' Ega ) is a valley in South Tyrol (Italy). The name " harrow " is derived from the Ladino word " ega " (water).

The Eggental is accessible from the motorway exit Bolzano Nord, on the Carezza or over the Passo di Lavazè.

The Eggentaler creek flows near Kardaun in the Eisack, the first part of the valley of Kardaun after Birchabruck is so narrow that the road leads mostly through tunnels. The rugged gorge inspired Karl May 's novel " Through the wild Kurdistan ".
