Egglkofen

Egglkofen forms the northernmost community in the Upper Bavarian district of Mühldorf and is a member of the administrative community Neumarkt-Sankt Veit.

Geography

Geographical Location

Egglkofen located in Southeast Upper Bavaria, in a tributary of the Rott in the foothills. The place is located about 31 km southeast of Landshut, 23 km north of Mühldorf and just 6 km from Neumarkt-Sankt Veit and 9 km from Vilsbiburg.

History

The first mention Egglkofens place in the year 1200. Egglkofen was the seat of a closed Hofmark the Baron Dachberg. 1797-1838 were then the counts of Lerch Owner field of Hofmark, which was in 1820 converted into a patrimonial 2nd class. On December 30, 1833 acquired Maximilian Joseph Graf von Montgelas ( 1759-1838 ) by way of purchase for 107,100 florins by Max Freiherr von Lerch field Egglkofen (today district Mühldorf ). 1833, the former Hofmarken Gerzen and Aham were (today district of Landshut ) purchased along with Mangern, Johannesbrunn and Loizenkirchen by Karl Lorenz Ritter and Edler Mayer of Mayer Field. Montgelas died on 14 June 1838 in his Munich palace. On June 16, the body was solemnly conducted by Aham. In the crypt of the chapel of Aham he found his own request in accordance with the final resting place. In June 2005, the sale of the castle Egglkofen to the Bavarian state was announced.

Coat of arms
