Egil Danielsen

Egil Danielsen ( born November 9, 1933, Hamar ) is a former Norwegian athlete ( javelin thrower ), which at a height of 1.82 m had a competition weight of 88 kg.

The favorite at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne was the reigning European champion Janusz sídlo from Poland. Most lengths over 80 meters had thrown in 1956, however, the Norwegian Egil Danielsen. In the final on November 26, 1956 sídlo in the 3rd attempt 79,98. However, in the fourth experiment presented Danielsen set a world record, which he won gold. Here is the series of world record: 72.60 to 68.49 - 70.75 to 85.71 - 72.60 to 68.86. Without the outlier Danielsen would have ranked No. 6.

Danielsen was in 1956 with his world record with 84.00 and 1957 world each year Best. In 1958, he threw 82.49, which he finished No. 2 in the annual world leaderboard. No. 2, he finished well at the European Championships in 1958 with 78.27 behind sídlo.

Danielsen surpassed the 80 -meter mark only in the years 1956 to 1958. At the Olympics 1960 he did not survive with 72.93 as the 17 qualification.

In 1956 he won the election to Norway's athlete of the year, the Morgenbladet gold medal and the Fearnleys olympiske ærespris.
