Egliswil ( in the local dialect ɛɡliʃʋi ˌ ː l) is a municipality in the district of Lenzburg in the canton of Aargau. It is located four kilometers south of the main town in the district of Lake Valley.

Geography

The scattered village is set back on the eastern edge of the Lake Valley surrounded by a gently sloping hollow between the hills Häbni (531 m above sea level. M. ) Birch ( 591 m above sea level. M. ) and Emmet ( 577 m above sea level. M. ). Northeast of the village the trough passes into the narrow valley of the Tribachs. This water carries later in the name of Lenzburg city creek flows and the district capital in the Aabach. East of Tribachtals rises the hill chain of the Riet Berg, the natural border with the Bünztal. West and south of the village, the terrain is mostly flat.

The area of the municipality is 629 hectares, of which 250 hectares of forested and built over 52 hectares. The highest point is located on 664 meters in United moss on the Rietberg chain, the deepest at 415 meters at the Aabach.

Neighboring municipalities are Lenzburg in the north, BANGALORE in the northeast, and Dintikon Villmergen in the east, the south and Seengen Seon in the West.

History

A single grave discovered in 1953 with ceramic items from the second half of the 2nd century can infer the existence of a Roman estate. Its precise location is not known yet. The first mention of Egirichiswilare place in the year 893 in a toboggan interest of the woman Minster in Zurich. The place name comes from Old High Egiricheswilari, which means " farm estate of Egirich ". In the Middle Ages, the village was in the territory of the Counts of Lenzburg, from 1173 in that the counts of Kyburg. After these had died out, the Habsburgs, the new rulers were in 1264. They pledged in 1331 the lower courts permanently to the Lords of Hallwyl.

Attractions

The municipality has a kindergarten and a primary school. All upper level of compulsory elementary school ( junior high school, middle school, school district ) can be visited in Seengen. The nearest district school (high school ) is located in Aarau.
