Egmont Manga & Anime

Egmont Manga (short: EMA ) until the spring of 2013, Egmont Manga & Anime, Manga is the publishing brand for the Egmont publishing companies.

After it became the turn of the millennium the manga boom in Germany, the Egmont Group founded in 2000 EMA as a new subsidiary for its previously appearing at Egmont Manga Ehapa program. Since 2003, EMA is a trademark of Egmont publishing companies based in Cologne.

History

In 1878, Egmont H. Petersen opened his own print shop in Copenhagen, which should form the basis for the publisher. The first major success was the family magazine Hjemmet 1904, which still exists today in Scandinavia. In 1914, for the dedication of a large printing facility, the Gutenberghus, Egmont received the title of Royal Hofdruckerei.

1948 succeeded the publisher to secure the rights to the Disney comics for many European countries. 1951 was founded with Egmont Ehapa a German offshoot. In the comic field he drove Disney works (in translation by Erika Fuchs) and later Asterix and Lucky Luke. 1991 Reiner Feest Verlag was bought. Under this label, appeared in February 1994 with the first Appleseed Manga of the publishing house. More Manga followed, but the big breakthrough came 1997/1998 with Sailor Moon.

In 2000, Egmont Ehapa published with Wedding Peach for the first time manga in Japanese reading direction. In October of the same year EMA was founded. Publishing Director has since Georg F.W. Temple, who was the former editor in chief for trend topics in Ehapa been responsible for the previous manga publications. As the first German manga publisher EMA has a consultant in Japan sit on the spot.

Followed in 2001 with white cross of the first anime in cooperation with Anime Virtual under the label IKASU. In 2002, EMA was reintegrated with Ehapa, but the label remained. 2003 Comic - label Ehapa Comic Collection and Egmont Manga & Anime (EMA ) at the publishing house in Cologne under the umbrella of Egmont Publishing limited liability companies were merged. Since 2009, Alexandra Germann leads the comic and manga area at the Egmont publishing companies. The Ehapa magazine area, which also publishes the Mickey Mouse, is still in Berlin.

From 2003 to 2005 EMA organized jointly with the Association Animexx eV which annually takes place in Kassel anime convention Connichi.
