Egomania

Egomania (from Greek or Latin ego = I Greek μανία Manía = frenzy, I also Addiction ) is a pathological selfishness or self-centeredness. The Duden defines the term as an educational language for a " morbid self-absorption ".

The so ascribed person is referred to as self-centered egomaniac and have the need to always be at the center of all activities and events or interpreted processes. Egomanie occurs in psychopathology as one of several symptoms of mania in the context of bipolar disorder (manic -depressive illness ) in appearance and is supported by megalomania ( " megalomania " ) accompanied. The terminology egomania but is often used purely colloquial or everyday speech without claiming a medical diagnosis.
