The EHC Lustenau is an Austrian ice hockey club based in Lustenau (Vorarlberg), which is currently in the second highest Austrian league, the National Inter- league play. The greatest successes of Lustenauer are eight titles in the National League. Longtime chairman, manager and sporting director Werner was Alfare, who resigned after the season 2010/11 after more than 30 years. It was found by a group of followers, thus the continuation of the club has been saved.

History

The club was originally called the Hockey section of the SC Austria Lustenau, which played at the beginning in the Vorarlberg State League. 1970 the EHC Lustenau was founded as an independent Hockey Club and took part in the Arlberg League and the former league, which became the National League later. Another milestone was the opening of the Rhein Halle in 1972, which has since hosted the home matches of the EHC.

After the National League Championship title in the 1981/82 season the club took the promotion to the top Austrian league (Bundesliga ), but rose after a last place in the very next season again. Already in the following season, the Lustenauer insured with the National League championship in 1983/84 the re-emergence - followed six seasons in the Bundesliga, according to the 1989/90 season, however, you had to descend again. Despite financial problems, bankruptcy and compulsory settlement after this season the hockey club could be continued.

In the season 1991/92 Lustenau again won the National League championship title, however, renounced the promotion to the Bundesliga. By combining federal and National League played the EHC Lustenau from the 1994/95 season in the Bundesliga again, rose after two seasons but voluntary in the back playing National League from. In the 1996/97 season the club again won the championship of the National League.

As of the 2000 /01 season Lustenau played again with the Uniqua Hockey League newly founded, for financial reasons, the club moved to the start of the 2003/04 season back in the National League back. In the season 2005/ 06 the EHC Lustenau succeeded the seventh National League Championship title in the club's history. In the 2008 / 09 season, the eighth National League championship title followed.
