Geography

Geographical Location

The community Ehingen is located about 30 kilometers north of Augsburg, in a tributary of the Schmutter, surrounded by foothills of the Swabian- Bavarian plateau.

Districts

The municipality consists of the main town and parish of Ehingen and the village Ortlfingen.

History

Ehingen was the seat of a local noble family, the lords of Ehingen, which were the largest landlords in today's municipal area in the 13th and 14th centuries. Ludwig the Bavarian transferred in 1315 by Heinrich Bockberg the patronage of the church. The Lehnsrechte remained in the Wittelsbach family until 1392 came to the monastery Benediktbeuren.
