Ehrenpokal der Luftwaffe

The honorary trophy for special achievement in the air war was a military award of the German Luftwaffe during the Second World War.

The trophy was on February 27, 1940 donated by Reichsmarschall Hermann Goering, the Reich Minister of Aviation and Commander in Chief of the Luftwaffe. He is also unofficially known as "Honorary Cup of the Luftwaffe". The award was granted for the flying personnel. His winners were named in honor of the magazine list of the German Luftwaffe. From German records show that he was awarded 58,000 times, but only 13-15000 carriers were actually called.

The awards were pilots who already possessed the Iron Cross, First Class, but their performance is not sufficient to get the German Cross or the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.

The cup was produced in two versions: made of fine silver or nickel-silver. It is 228 mm high with a diameter of 100 mm. The cup was made of four parts, which were then joined together. The obverse shows two eagles in agony, while on the back of an Iron Cross is applied. The foot of the cup is decorated with oak leaves and acorns.
