Eiðar longwave transmitter

The transmission tower Eiðar is a longwave radio mast in Iceland, which is located about 14 km north of Egilsstaðir.

With 220 meters it is the second tallest structure in Iceland after the transmission tower Gufuskálar. It was originally to be built even higher, but this could not be implemented because of the proximity to the airport Egilsstaðir.

The insulated against ground transmission tower emits at 207 kHz with a power of 100 kW and is operated by the Icelandic Broadcasting.
