Eibhlin Byrne

Eibhlin Byrne is an Irish politician and was from July 2008 to June 2009 for one year, the Lord Mayor of Dublin.

Byrne studied at University College Dublin. Since 2003 she is the Fianna Fáil member of the City Council of Dublin ( Dublin City Council ). On June 30, 2008, she was elected to the new Lord Mayor of Dublin ( Lord Mayor of Dublin). Byrne is now the 339th Lord Mayor of Dublin and the sixth woman who holds this office. Prior to her election to the City Council, she worked as a teacher. On June 5, 2009, she ran in the Dublin constituency for a seat in the European Parliament, but was able to win a mandate. In the concurrent local elections, however, they did not occur, and thus retired in 2009 from the City Council of Dublin.

Byrne is married and has three daughters.
