The Berlin Eichborndamm station is a suburban railway station in the Berlin district of Reinickendorf district of the same, just on the border of the district Wittenau. Situated on the Kremmener train stop is served by the S25 line of the Berlin S-Bahn.

Location and construction

The S-Bahn station is located east of the overpass over the Eichborndamm at kilometer 8.5 of Kremmener web. Access is from the road by the abutment. The station includes a central platform, with only the northern edge of the platform is operated. The station has no independent reception building, the necessary facilities for passenger handling were housed in the entrance building. This is constructed within the embankment as dreijochiges groin vault with a circular skylight in the center yoke. In the immediate area on Eichborndamm and at the Antoni road there is a bus stop, bicycle storage and a P & R car park.

At the height of the station a siding of the Kremmener railway branches off to the north to the industrial area in Borsigwalde, which up to this point runs starting from the freight station Alt- Reinickendorf parallel to the S -Bahn track.

The train station is a listed building.

History

The station was taken only a year after the opening of Kremmener train on October 1, 1894, the name Eichborn road in operation. The facility initially consisted of a page Train station at the time being single track and level routes. From 1900 the railway was extended double track and placed on a dam, in the course of the present dam, completed in 1905 the railway station was built.

As of March 16, 1927 held the first electric suburban trains on Eichborn Street Station, from them was on December 1, 1930 shows the Berlin S-Bahn.

End of April 1945, the Reichsbahn their S -Bahn operation, until July 19, drove back first trains on the route, though still with steam. The southern track was dismantled in 1945 as war reparations. After the wall was built, the S-Bahn trains had stopped running to Velten or Hennigsdorf terminus was already Heiligensee.

In the years 1974-1975 the northern bridge over the Eichborndamm was renewed, also the Antonienstraße new bridges were built over the course of this extension. During the construction period the southern platform track 1 on a transitional basis put into operation, then the traffic was re- routed back to the northern platform track 2.

The Kremmener railway remained the kingdom workers strike in 1980, first in service. With the takeover of the West Berlin S -Bahn by the Berlin Transport Authority on January 9, 1984, the closure of the S -Bahn was carried out in this section. The reopening took place eleven years later on 28 May 1995 before the northern bridge superstructure were renovated over the Eichborndamm and stair access and platform roof repaired. To date, the S- Bahn trains stop only at the northern edge of the platform, a reconstruction of the southern track is planned in the medium term as part of the restoration of the duality of Kremmener web.

Meanwhile, the station on 29 May 1994, renamed from Eichborn street in Eichborndamm, only 57 years after the renaming of the eponymous street.

To the future to allow barrier-free access to the platform, in 2013 the construction of a lift is planned.

In the next few years to redevelop the section of line between Schönholz and Tegel is necessary. In this part of the reconstruction of the second S -Bahn track and the introduction of a 10 -minute clock to Tegel is planned. Through the construction of a new access tunnel is a second entrance is to be created.

Traffic

The S-Bahn station Eichborndamm, is served by the S25 line, which runs between the city Hennigsdorf and Teltow. There is a transit traffic to the bus lines 221 and 322 of the Berlin Transport Authority.
