Eichenbach

Oak Brook is a municipality in the district of Ahrweiler, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Adenau.

Geography

The place is located in the central area of ​​the Eifel in a tributary valley of the Ahr. Oak Brook is surrounded by a vast forest area. Is drained, the area of the streams Eichenbach and Dreisbach.

The municipality is divided into the districts of Oak Brook and Frohnhofen. The latter is located west of the main town.

History

By the end of the 18th century belonged to the Duchy of Arenberg Oak Brook.

In 1794, French revolutionary troops had occupied the left bank of the Rhine. Under the French administration Eichenbach belonged to the Canton Adenau, who was assigned to the Rhine-Moselle department. Under the contracts at the Congress of Vienna contracts the region, thus Oak Brook, in 1815 came to the Kingdom of Prussia. Independently Eichenbach is zuzammen with Fronhofen only since 1839, previously belonged to the hamlet of Oak Brook, Fronhofen and Ohlenhard to the municipality Wershofen. The community oak brook belonged to the mayor's office in the county Aremberg Adenau, who was part of the district of Coblenz and the Rhine Province. 1932, the county Adenau was dissolved and the community oak brook assigned to the district of Ahrweiler. Since 1946, the community belongs to the state of Rhineland -Palatinate and since 1970 the municipality Adenau.
