Eicher Good Earth Ltd.. is an Indian industrial group with a focus on the automotive industry. The company is listed on the Stock Exchange.

Group

The group also has Eicher Motors Ltd.. with the areas of Eicher Motors, Royal Enfield and Eicher Demm and the subsidiaries Eicher Limited Eicher Engineering Solutions, Good Earth Publications, Eicher International Ltd.. and ECS Ltd.. It will be employed in five plants and numerous sales offices around 2,400 employees. Sales in fiscal year 2004-05 was INR 17.25 billion.

History

The origin in 1948 was the founding of the company Good Earth Company, which dealt with the import of tractors in India. Through collaboration with the German company Gebr Eicher 1959 a joint venture under the name of Eicher Tractor Corporation of India Private Ltd.. Founded to produce locally first in the country tractors. The success was inevitable, and the company grew. In 1982 a technical collaboration with Mitsubishi to produce light-duty trucks and buses in India. In 1990, the Indian company was acquired Enfield, a well known manufacturer of motorized two-wheelers. A year later, the local transmission manufacturers Ramon and Demm was taken.

In 2005, the tractors and engines to the Indian firm TAFE Motors and Tractors Ltd. was. sold. According to recent news, DaimlerChrysler has a 20% share of Eicher Motors bought ( Economic Times, October 6, 2006 ).

In 2008, a commercial vehicle alliance was sealed by the Swedish manufacturer Volvo, which resulted in the establishment of the joint venture VE Commercial Vehicles Limited. Volvo here brought his Indian business as well as an additional 200 million euros, Eicher its entire truck and bus.

Eicher Germany

The link to the German company Gebr Eicher exists only in name. The German share in the joint venture have already been adopted in the 60s. In the 80 's, when the German company ran into financial difficulties growing, Eicher India has temporarily taken over the majority of the German company. But the decline of the German company could not avoid this step also. Today, the name Eicher lives in India as a respected brand and thriving company.
