Eiga Monogatari

The Eiga Monogatari (Japanese栄 花 物语, also栄 华 物语, dt " story of the blossoming flowers " or " narrative of splendor " ) is considered the first work of history in Japanese language and earliest work of historical narrative (歴 史 物语, rekishi monogatari ). It originated in the Heian period, 1028-1107, and comprises a total of 40 maki ( rolls). The author is not clearly determined, commonly it is assumed that the maid of honor Akazome Emon was the author of the Eiga Monogatari.

The main part of the Eiga Monogatari, these are the first 30 Maki ( strain正 编), describes the events of the reign of Uda Tenno until the reign of Emperor Go - Ichijō. The second part, the remaining 10 Maki ( zokuhen続 编), include the events leading up to the year 1092 the reign of the 73 Tennō Horikawa. It thus covers a period of 205 years and is often referred to as Yotsugi Monogatari (世 継 物语, story of the succession of generations ) respectively. The focus of the Monogatari are the glorious deeds of Fujiwara no Michinaga.

The Eiga Monogatari builds on the Six annals ( Rikkokushi ), which are written in Kanbun and include historical events to 887. It sees itself as a continuation of Nihon Sandai Jitsuroku (日本 三代 実 录)
