Geography

Geographical location

Eigeltingen lies in Hegau, about 15 kilometers northwest from Lake Constance.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by Emmingen- Liptingen in Tuttlingen district, on the east by Mühlingen and the city Stockach, to the south Orsingen- Nenzingen and the town Aach and to the west by the city of Engen.

The municipality Eigeltingen with the previously independent municipalities Heudorf Hegau, Honstetten, Münchhof, Reute Hegau and Rorgenwies includes 37 villages, hamlets, farms and houses.

The municipality Eigeltingen within the frontiers of December 31, 1972 include the village Eigeltingen and the courts Dauenberg, hole mill, central spine, Upper Dornsberg and lower ( front ) Dornsberg. History

The name Eigeltingen goes back to a clan leader named " Aigold ", who settled here in the 3rd or 4th century.

Eigeltingen was mentioned in 764 in a donation document of the monastery of St. Gallen for the first time. In the following centuries, spiritual and secular dignitaries changed frequently, until the place came to Württemberg in 1806 and 1810 finally the Grand Duchy of Baden. Heudorf Hegau

Honstetten
