Eiko Kadono

Eiko Kadono (角 野 栄 子jap, Eiko Kadono; * January 1, 1935 in the prefecture of Tokyo, Japan ) is a Japanese writer.

Life

Kadono studied English at Waseda University. After graduating in 1960, she went for two years after Brazil and published on this stay her first children's books. In 1985 she began working at Kiki's Delivery Service, which is mainly thanks to the film adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki was a great success and in Japan a status similar to Bibi in Germany enjoys. She wrote about Kiki due to the success other three books. Kiki's Delivery Service is about a 13 -year-old witch who has to spend in a city a year to experience first experiences and adventures.

Other successful books Kadonos are Nazonazo Asobi Uta (なぞなぞ あそび うた) Zubon Sencho -san no Hanashi (ズボン 船長 さん の 話) and Watashi no Mama wa Shizuka -san (わたし の ママ は しずか さん). Her works have been translated including English, French, Korean, Italian and Chinese.
