Einar Hákonarson

Einar Hákonarson ( born January 14, 1945 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic painter and printmaker.

Hákonarson studied from 1960 to 1964 at the Icelandic College of Art and Crafts in Reykjavík. He then moved to Valand School of Fine Arts in Gothenburg, Sweden. Already during his studies became impressed by pop art, the works of the artists David Hockney and Francis Bacon influenced him. He lives with his family in Hólmavík and works in Reykjavík.

Hákonarson belonged to 1984 and 1986 to the Committee for the Icelandic Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
