Eino Tamberg

Eino Tamberg ( born May 27, 1930 in Tallinn, † December 24, 2010 ) was an Estonian composer.

Tamberg studied at the Conservatory of Tallinn with Eugen Kapp. From 1953 to 1959 he was a sound engineer at the Estonian Radio, then artistic advisor of the Estonian Composers' Union. Since 1968 he worked as a lecturer and since 1978 as a professor of composition at the Estonian Academy of Music. In 1974 he became secretary of the Estonian Composers' Union. He founded his own school of composition, emerged from the musicians as Raimo Kangro, Peeter Vähi, Margo Kõlar, Toivo Tulev, Mari and Mart Vihmand Siimer. He was awarded the Estonian National Culture Award in 1999.
