Eisenberg an der Raab

Eisenberg an der Raab is a district of the town of Sankt Martin an der Raab in Jenner village district in Burgenland in Austria with 245 inhabitants (as of 4 October 2007).

Location

Eisenberg is in the nature park, founded in 1997 Raab in the border triangle of Slovenia, Austria and Hungary. For the Austro- Hungarian border in the southeast is 1 km away and the border with Slovenia 7 km. After Jenner village and Weichselbaum in the north there are 3 or 4 km.

History

Found in the area of Eisenberg ( Eisenberg cone fields ) Roman tumuli and the foundations of a Roman building ( villa rustica) suggesting an early settlement. In 1970, Eisenberg along with five other formerly independent communities by merger to Sankt Martin an der Raab. In the resort there are a Beautification Association and the volunteer fire department.

On October 8, 1954 in Eisenberg is the wife Aloisia Lex ( 1907-1984 ), the holy Mary and 6 September 1956 an angel appeared. In the following years up to six pilgrimages were performed per year. The lawn cross pilgrims club was disbanded in 2007. Visitors can take the "holy water " in containers as souvenirs. However, these are only normal tap water from the local private water supply.
