Eisighofen

Eisighofen is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Katzenelenbogen.

History

The current name comes from the term iron and refers to the intensive historic iron mining in the region. The place belonged to the Duchy of Nassau or its predecessor counties. On March 1, 1676 the village of Nassau -Saarbrücken to Johann Graf was given the right to call themselves free spots. In 1781 the village was destroyed by fire, but rebuilt with the help of the surrounding villages again. The Duchy of Nassau, and with him Eisighofen was annexed in 1866 by Prussia. Since 1946 Eisighofen is part of Rhineland- Palatinate. 1972 came in the wake of an administrative reform to form the municipality Katzenelenbogen who belongs to the local church Eisighofen.

Parish council

The local council in Eisighofen consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Regular events

  • Every three years Eisighofen host of the "Born notch ", which is also celebrated in Dörsdorf and Bergshausen.
