Eitel Frederick II, Count of Hohenzollern

Eitel Friedrich II of Hohenzollern (* 1452, † June 18, 1512 in Trier ) was Count in the County of Hohenzollern and was a member of the Swabian line of the Hohenzollern. He was under the name chamber judge of the first president of the Imperial Supreme Court. As a close friend of the King and later Emperor Maximilian I of Habsburg, he won great influence in national politics. In addition, he managed to consolidate his own possession and expand.

Approach to the Frankish count's castle Hohenzollern

Eitel Friedrich II, entitled to inherit son of Jobst Nicholas I (1433-1488), approached, following his father's course, the Frankish count's castle line of Hohenzollern. He lived during the reign of his father long at the court of the Elector Albrecht Achilles. For Brandenburg he was (east of the Oder) operating since 1481 as a captain in the reign Krusty. In 1483 he was Brandenburg Council, later acting head of Kottbus and Züllichau. In 1482 he married Magdalena of Brandenburg in Berlin. Approach to Habsburg

Eitel Frederick II, a friend of Maximilian I, leaned against the Habsburgs and thus gained great influence on the imperial policy. So he made diplomatic services for his king and fought for him in the Netherlands. So he was able to excel in 1479 at the Battle of Guinegate and 1488 he led the vanguard against Bruges as rebellious citizens the Emperor there captors. Since he had served the king as well as chamber judge, he was elected president of the newly established Imperial Supreme Court in 1495. 1497/98 was appointed Eitel Frederick II in the Austrian court counselor. In 1499 he led with Dietrich von Blumeneck a small army against the Swiss Lake Constance and conquered Rorschach. 1500 he occupied the County of Gorizia for Austria. In 1501 he was awarded the Order of the Golden Fleece. On September 12, 1504 he fought in the Landshut War of Succession in Regensburg against the Palatinate and Bohemia, where he commanded the right wing of cavalry, and so contributed to the victory.

Already in 1488 the Habsburgs had Eitel Friedrich II pledged the county Haigerloch, 1497, she went over all in the hereditary possession.

Foundations

1505 donated Eitel Friedrich II the collegiate Hechingen. There is also the grave plate on which he and his wife are seen.
