History

The church today Eitzing was formed from the previous control communities Eitzing, mountain and Kirchberg. The community foundation took place in 1881.

On a hill in the village of Obereitzing stood the castle of the nobles of Itzing in the 12th century. Castle and lordship Eitzing remained in possession of the Eitzinger until well into the second half of the 15th century. Through inheritance Eitzing came to Hohenfelder to Aistersheim and Almeck that it in 1638 to the Counts of Ortolf Trattenbach (St. Martin) sold. In the 17th century the castle was Obereitzing no longer inhabited and abandoned to decay. In its outbuildings, the " Hofbauer " taught rightly. In the 19th century a new farmstead was built at the foot of the Schlossberg. There were formerly five fish ponds, one of which was preserved on the north side of the hill.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was granted on 7 May 1973. It was the root of Arms of the lords of Eitzing who played a major role in the history of community acquired.

The municipality colors are black, white and red.

Parish Church

The Church of Eitzing said to have been founded by the nobles of Eitzing. From 1400 - 1785 Eitzing was a branch of Aurolzmuenster. By royal decree of Emperor Joseph II March 6, 1784 Eitzing became an independent parish. The high altar dates from 1637 and is a work of the carpenter Hans Widmann and the sculptor Ludwig Vogel from Ried. The seated Madonna of Mercy is temporally classified in 1480. The statues on the side altars, left, representing the St. George and Jacob, and right, the Saints Sebastian and Florian are a work of Thomas Schwanthalerstraße from 1660 / 61st

Worth mentioning is the 1758 built onto the southwest corner of the church funeral chapel with frescoes by Johann Rokokostukkatur and Prinner. It is valid in art historical circles as a rarity and is unique in Upper Austria. It was 1988/89 fully restored and is a listed building.

The church is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, and was at all times the goal of pilgrims. Pope Pius IX. gave the Church for the Feast of the Assumption plenary indulgence. The pilgrimage of the Rieder goes back to a vow on the occasion of a fire in Ried in 1704 and today the church of pilgrims from the Dean Ried and all of Upper Austria is visited.
