Eivind Aarset

Eivind Aarset ( born March 23, 1961 in Drøbak ) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist and composer.

Life

Aarset began his musical career as a guitarist in a heavy metal band. Later he moved to the jazz band From time to time, then part of the Bendik ensemble of Hofseth Bugge Wesseltoft and finally got to know on whose label Jazzland Records released his debut album Electronique Noire appeared. Previously Aarset had worked on over 150 albums of such diverse musicians such as Ray Charles, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ute Lemper, Ketil Bjørnstad, Mike Mainieri, Arild Andersen, Abe Laboriel, Django Bates and Cher. In his solo albums Aarset jazz combines with electronic music.

Aarset is primarily known for his collaboration with Nils Petter Molvaer, whose albums he greatly impressed with his unique sound. Also very worth listening to are his contributions to the solo albums of the Norwegian singer Rebekka Bakken.
