Eizo Kenmotsu

Eizo Kenmotsu (Japanese监 物 永 三, Kenmotsu Eizo; born February 13, 1948 in Okayama Prefecture ) is a former Japanese gymnast. He was a seven-time world champion and three -time Olympic champion.

Olympic games

Kenmotsu won with the Japanese gymnastics team three together following Olympic Games gold medal in the team all-around. 1968 in Mexico City, he was in all eight gymnastics competitions in the top seven. On the stretch he won the bronze medal. Four years later, at the Games in Munich, he was able to classify in all eight races in the top five. In the individual all-around, he finished second, parallel bars and pommel horse at the respective third parties. In Montreal in the Summer Olympics 1976, he also won in the individual competitions, two more medals. He won silver on pommel horse and high bar.

World Championships

In the World Gymnastics Championships in 1970 in Ljubljana, he was the second most successful athlete after his compatriot Akinori Nakayama. In addition to the gold medal in the team all-around, he was able to win five medals in individual events: gold in the individual all-around and high bar and silver on the bottom, on the parallel bars and pommel horse.

1974 in Varna Japan won the team's turn -around. Kenmotsu also won a gold medal on the parallel bars and three bronze medals in the individual all-around, high bar and pommel horse.

In Strasbourg at the World Gymnastics Championships 1978, he won again on bars and finished second in the individual all-around. The team's all-around was again dominated by Japan. His last medal at the world championships he won in 1979 in Fort Worth, where Japan won the silver medal in the team all-around.

2006 Kenmotsu was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
