Ekkehard II

Ekkehard II († April 23 990 ) also Ekkehardus Palatinus, came around the middle of the 10th century as a boy to the monastery of St. Gallen and was known as a poet sequences.

Life

Reception

Ekkehard's life is described in the historical novel Ekkehard from 1855 by Joseph Victor von Scheffel, which became a cult book of the Wilhelmine era.

Based on the novel Johann Joseph Abert wrote an eponymous opera, which premiered on October 11, 1878 in the Court Opera in Berlin.
