Ekran

Ekran ( Экран ) was a Soviet type of geostationary satellites, which were developed for a national satellite television system. The first satellite of this kind was launched in 1976. The transmitter located at Ekran on board had enough power (200 W) at any Siberian household with a TV signal supply. Ekran made ​​use of in the transmission of a simple Yagi -Uda antenna. A modified version Ekrans was called Ekran -M. Overall, by 2001 about 30 Ekran satellites were launched. The Ekran satellites were replaced by improved geostationary DBS satellite as Gorizont, Express and Gals.
