El Chanal

El Chanal is the name given to a pre-Columbian ruined city in western Mexico, a few kilometers from the city of Colima.

The former 100 -acre settlement was an important regional center. Have been preserved include highly ornate walls and thirteen small pyramids. The place was settled about 1100 to 1400 AD. It is open on several days of the week for visitors. A large part of the local archaeological finds can be seen in the Museo de las Culturas de Occidente María Ahumada de Gómez in Colima.
