El Hadji Diouf Ousseynou ( born January 15, 1981 in Dakar ) is a Senegalese football player. Since August 2012, he plays for Leeds United.

Career

Association

El Hadji Diouf started his career in Senegal at a football club named ASC Kaani Gui Linguère. There, the striker was due to his outstanding performance as an 17 -year-old discovered by a talent scout from Europe and taught in 1999 to France for FC Sochaux. He then played for Stade Rennes and Lens.

The Liverpool bought Diouf from French club RC Lens for ten million pounds in the summer of 2002 due to its good performance in the 2002 World Cup. However, he had problems in Liverpool and was 14 months without scoring. He was first hired in the season 2004/05 Bolton Wanderers and finally sold.

His greatest successes were the French vice-championship in 2002 and also the second place at the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations in Mali. Diouf was elected in 2001 and 2002 African Footballer of the Year 2002 BBC African Footballer also for of the Year. In 2004 he was the world football governing body FIFA in the FIFA 100, a list of the 125 greatest living footballers recorded.

In July 2008, Diouf moved to Sunderland for a fee of £ 2.5 million.

After only six months at Sunderland, he joined in January 2009 to Blackburn Rovers. The transfer fee amounted to approximately € 2.2 million. In the summer of 2011, he was loaned to Rangers before moving on 31 October 2011 for three months to Doncaster Rovers in England's second league. Then he signs a new contract until 30 June 2013 at the Doncaster Rovers.

For the 2012/13 season Diouf moved to Leeds United in the second-class Football League Championship.

National

His national team career began in April 2000 against Benin. By 2005, El Hadji Diouf played more than 40 international appearances, scoring 16 goals for his country.

In qualifying for the World Cup 2002, he was the most successful player from Senegal. Nine of the 14 matches of Senegal - including two hat-tricks - shot El Hadji Diouf. Due to his scoring prowess, he was called by his French and Senegalese fans "Serial Killer".

In October 2007, he announced his retirement from international football. This statement, however, he revised three weeks later.

On 2 April 2009 the player informed the Senegalese association with his latest retirement from international football.
