El-Hakaneia Palace

The El- Hakaneia Palace is a late 19th century building built in Alexandria in Egypt.

History

Under the reign of Khedive Ismail (1863-1879) came at the invitation of several foreigners to Alexandria, which contributed to the city's architecture. The palace was built in 1884-1887 after a design by the Italian architect Alfonso Maniscalco (* 1853 in Naples) as a courthouse. The imposing building ( " imposing seat of the Mixed Tribunal " ) was designed in the Beaux - Arts tradition. The building is still used as a courthouse.
