Elastic energy

The deformation energy is a term from engineering sciences, which in physics as " elastic energy " ( " potential energy " ) or " friction work" ( see also " internal friction " ) is called.

The deformation energy is absorbed during a mechanical compression (potential) energy or heat released or radiation. In a physical deformation, the kinetic energy is always converted into elastic / potential energy and / or friction energy / labor. This is also the case at the atomic level, which in this case is usually not spoken of deformation energy, but by receiving and delivering well-defined " energy quanta".
