Elayne Angel

Elayne Angel ( born August 6 1960 as Elayne Steinberg ) is a professional American piercer and body modification enthusiast. She was the first person who has registered a tattoo with the United States Patent Office.

Life

Elayne Angel studied at Pierce College sign language interpreter, and at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. She was interested in early for piercings and after a chance encounter in 1981 with a woman who was wearing a nipple piercing, she decided to become a professional piercer. It began in 1981 to work at The Gauntlet and has been used in the stores Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. On 1 December 1991, she was awarded by Jim Ward, a master's certificate as a piercer.

In December 1993 she opened her own studio, Rings of Desire, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Rings of Desire was the first piercing studio that received a state licensing from the Health Department in Louisiana.

After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, she completed her studio in New Orleans and moved to Merida, Mexico. In March 2009, she published the so-called " Piercing Bible ": The Definitive Guide to Safe Body Piercing.

Elayne Angel is known for her large tattoo of angel wings on the back, the whole lower body is tattooed with fish scales and fins.
