Elbach

Elbach ( German Ellbach ) is a commune with 258 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region.

Geography

Elbach is in the range of Burgundian gate, ten kilometers west of Altkirch and three kilometers west of Dannenberg Marie. Half a mile south of the village runs the Rhine -Rhône Canal, which overcomes the watershed between the Rhine and Rhone here.

The neighboring municipalities are clockwise Traubach -le- Bas in the north, Wolfersdorf in the east, Retzwiller the southeast, Valdieu - Lutran the southwest, Chavannes -sur- l'Étang in the west and Bréchaumont in the northwest.

History

By the Peace of Westphalia Elbach belonged to the rule Thann in the county Pfirt.

The chapel was built in 1770 and is Saint- Pierre and Saint -Paul ordained.
