Elbe-Parey

Elbe- Parey is a municipality in the district unit Jerichower Land in Saxony -Anhalt.

Geography

Elbe- Parey lies between the towns castle and Genthin and has its biggest expansion in north-south direction at 19 kilometers, while the Westostausdehnung is a maximum of twelve kilometers. The western boundary is formed essentially by the same, therefore also determines the Elbaue large parts of its territory. To the southeast, the flaming begins to raise. Wide forest areas of the municipality are concentrated mainly in the eastern area. The main traffic arteries are the Federal Highway 1, the country road 54, the railway line Magdeburg - Berlin, as well as the waterways Elbe and the Elbe - Havel Canal. The highest point is the mountain Derbensche 56.3 meters.

The community Elbe-Parey was on 1 September 2001 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities

Policy

Local Government

The municipality is governed by a 21 -member council. The mayor Mannewitz (independent) was elected on 2 December 2001 with 100 percent of the valid votes. The individual districts are represented by their own local councils and mayor.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 23 July 2007 by the county.

Blazon: " In the golden sign with blue wave flanks a blue lily between the top three (1:2) and the bottom three ( 2-1 ) blue diamonds. "

The municipality colors - derived from the color of the coat of arms designs and the tincture of the shield - blue-yellow.

Flag

The flag is yellow-blue - yellow ( 1:1:1) striped ( cross- shape: strips horizontally extending, longitudinal shape: strip running vertically ) and centrally occupied with the municipal coat of arms.

Twinning

Partners town of Elbe- Parey is the Polish Jastarnia.

Economy

The most important economic factor of the unified community is agriculture with larger farms in Bergzow and Hohenseeden. Industrial centers are Parey ( steel and metal processing ) and Güsen (concrete sleeper factory ). Exist in Derben two shipyards (as of 2007 ).
