Eleanor of Anhalt-Zerbst

( In Østerholm on Als † November 2, 1681 * November 10, 1608 in Zerbst ) of the dynasty of Ascanians was a princess of Anhalt- Zerbst and by marriage Duchess of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Norburg Eleonore von Anhalt -Zerbst.

Life

Eleanor was a daughter of Prince Rudolf of Anhalt- Zerbst (1576-1621) from his first marriage with Dorothea Hedwig (1587-1609), daughter of Duke Heinrich Julius of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel.

It was on February 15, 1632 Norburg the second wife of Duke Friedrich of Schleswig -Holstein - Norburg ( 1581-1658 ). The ducal court in Nordborg was meagerly equipped and Eleanor's children were forced to seek their livelihood in the distance. As confessor to the Duchess acted since 1653 the theologian Christoph Wilhelm Mega Santander. The country experienced in 1669 state bankruptcy under Eleanor's stepson Johann Bogislaw and was recovered by the Kingdom of Denmark.

Eleanor died on her widow seat lock Østerholm and is buried in the church of Eken on Als next to her husband.
