Elections to Dáil Éireann

The Dáil is the lower house of the Irish Parliament Oireachtas. The House consists of 166 members who are elected for a term of 5 years. Choice is open to all Irish citizens, or citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who have their permanent residence in the Republic. The choice, according to the principle of communicable Einzelstimmgebung instead (English Single Transferable Vote) and the individual electoral districts each have to assign more than one seat.

By-elections

By-elections (English: by ( e) -election ) will take place in Ireland in order to enter a new vacancy in the Irish House of Commons. A Member of Parliament can excrete through death, resignation or expulsion from the Dáil so that a by-election is necessary. Therefore, parties may lose or to gain seats in the Dáil during a term of office entirely. Elections can be held individually or collectively.

Presidential elections

The Irish presidential election is the head of state of the Republic of Ireland, President of Ireland, was elected.

The President of Ireland is elected by the citizens of the Republic of every 7 years; in the event of premature departure must take place after the election within 60 days.
