Electric Pencil

The computer program Electric Pencil, released in 1975, was the first word processor for home computers. It was created by the U.S. programmer Michael Shrayer. There was, inter alia versions of the program for the Altair 8800, the Processor Technology Sol -20, the North Star Horizon, TRS -80, and IBM PC. In Germany the program from the company Ing W. Hofacker GmbH was sold in wooden churches in Munich.

The Electric Pencil program was written in 8080 machine language and could therefore be used on all computers that had a Zilog Z80 processor.

The popularity increased after the publication of the WordStar program again.
