Electric Power Research Institute

The Electric Power Research Institute ( EPRI ) is an American non-profit organization which carries out studies for electrical power supply and environmental aspects. EPRI with headquarters in Palo Alto ( California ) and Charlotte (North Carolina) was founded in 1973.

EPRI has set itself the goal to develop visions for the energy industry. It aspects of security of supply ( independence from oil imports ), the nuclear safety and environmental impact are taken into account. In addition, images of the future for the use of electrical energy can be designed. EPRI is funded through membership fees and donations and has revenues of 276 million U.S. $ ( 2005).
