Electrical steel#Grain orientation

Under grain orientation of polycrystalline materials is defined as the formation of distinct crystallographic textures or preferred directions for the orientation of the crystallites, also called grains. This may appear to an orientation that all the crystallites are aligned almost in parallel with an edge or a surface of the crystal lattice, or to face in parallel in their entire alignment. Since the properties of a crystal, as a rule dependent on the direction with respect to the crystal lattice can be achieved better material properties in the direction of the material through use of alignment of the crystals with the "best" direction.
