Electronic viewfinder

An electronic viewfinder (English: electronic viewfinder ( EVF) ) is a seeker with a very small screen.

In digital cameras, liquid crystal displays are used today for this purpose. Before this technology was available, small CRT screens were installed, for example in television cameras. The photographer or camera man sees in the electronic viewfinder the captured through the lens image and can thus see the exact image that will be captured. To adjust the viewfinder to the visual acuity of the user, a dioptric adjustment can be performed by changing the lens position in the viewfinder often.

Unlike cameras with separate detector consists of using electronic viewfinder no parallax between what is received and what is seen through the viewfinder.

Electronic viewfinder allow live view and therefore have over optical viewfinders many advantages. However, they require electrical power, and fast movements may not be represented properly because there may be a delay in the presentation. When using an electronic viewfinder of a camera in movie mode the videographer can see the image during recording in the viewfinder. With an SLR with video capability but the optical viewfinder is dark, since the mirror must flip up to accommodate and thus obscures the viewfinder image.
